My Settings aren't taking effect

If you're manually configuring your server's settings, or plugin's settings, you may find that after saving the file, the settings don't take effect.

Settings that are changed manually through the configuration files, only take effect after restarting the server.

If your plugin has commands to set settings, try using those instead.
Craftbukkit and Vanilla Minecraft commands can also be used to instantly set settings, they can be found here.
